Ultra Fight Gomora and Episode 196 | ウルトラファイトゴモラ • 196話

Image
Title Card looks very different from other episodes Ultra Fight was a low budget show created by Tsuburaya Productions when the company was in a critical situation after several of their shows failed to gain popularity. Ultra Fight itself was well received by viewers, and Tsuburaya managed to produce 196 episodes compared to the planned 130. Though there is something strange about episode 196, Monster Morgue ( 怪獣死体置場) , which features Woo as well as Gomora who never appeared in any of the other 195 episodes. Episode 195 was supposed to be the final episode, airing on 2nd July 1971. However, some episodes of Ultra Fight were re-edited fight scenes from Ultraman and Ultraseven . Thus, when Ultraseven episode 12 was banned , episode 9 of Ultra Fight (production ep 45), featuring scenes from there, also had to be sealed and could not be rebroadcast. So, Tsuburaya hastily created an episode to replace that. It aired on 6th July. Why was Gomora used? I have no idea. Gomora is the

In 1968, Ultraseven fought the robot King Joe, whose Pedanium Armour proved to be too strong for the hero. Eventually, a certain Dr Dorothy Anderson developed Ryton R30, the only material that can destroy Pedanium. The Ultra Garrison fired a Ryton R30 Bomb at King Joe and the robot stopped moving before sparking and exploding. Ultra Garrison firing the bomb Then in Ultraman Mebius , GUYS developed a Space Mine, the Ryton R30 Mine . As its name suggests, it is installed in space to prevent invaders from entering Earth. We are now technically safe from King Joes!! Unfortunately they are still attacking in alternate universe of  Ultraman X  .Aditionally, I wonder how they do not explode when Earth spaceships fly into space, but they might be harmless to materials other than Pedanium. The mines exploding

During episode 39 of Ultraman Ace , way back in 1972, Yapool's agent Alien Fire a powerful choju, Firemons , on a rampage. Ace was not able to defeat him, with Firemons withstanding his Metallium Ray and ended getting stabbed with the Fire Sword. TAC then produced a powerful cannon called Silver Shark  that destroyed Firemons easily, implying that the laser is stronger than a Metallium Ray. This is the first time TAC destroyed a choju (doesn't that mean they are not successful as a defence team?). In Ultraman Mebius ,   another Silver Shark was introduced, c alled Silver Shark G . This was a large beam gun placed beside the GUYS headquaters, the Phoenix Nes t.   It boasts range and precision that can destroy  meteorites  falling to Earth.

The Strange Case of Ultraseven Episode 12 | ウルトラセブンの第12話の奇妙なケース

Ultraseven  is undoubtedly one of the most popular entries in the Ultra Series. With very well crafted episode plots that can be enjoyed by adults too. However, one episode has caused much controversy for some time, and ultimately became banned. Episode 12, From Another Planet With Love  tells of the Alien Spell ,  who had been caught in nuclear war on their planet and got radiation sickness. Therefore, they needed white blood cells of humans to replenish themselves and headed to Earth for that purpose. They used devices disguised as watches to suck blood out of victims. This episode is the first to mention that Ultraseven is actually from Nebula M78. Alien Spell's true form is strange, a totally white humanoid figure with scars all over, which seemed to be based on nuclear bomb survivors. Originally, the design was described by kaiju designer Tohl Narita as being "beetle-like". However, after the suggestion of the director, Narita reluctantly changed the design. In

Kaiju and Seijin, Monsters and Aliens

If you like tokusatsu, you have probably heard of terms like Kaiju and Seijin. Their translations in English are not always entirely accurate, and some people might misunderstand the definition of them. Read on to find out more about the categories of villains. Alien Baltan Jr. (Barutan Seijin Jr.) an example of an Uchujin Seijin  ( 星人 ) refers to beings from other planets. It is commonly translated as "alien". It literally means "star-person/people". Seijin itself is not commonly used on its own. There is always the planet it comes from as a prefix. (Eg. Baltan Seijin). Before tokusatsu, specifically before the Ultra Series, aliens were seldom written in English in such a way as "Alien __ ". For example,  Alien Zetton  would have been expressed as  Zettonian  in the western way of naming aliens. When one talks about them as a broad term, it will be called 宇宙人 (Uchuujin) meaning "space person". Technically, Aliens do not have to be seij
